This week I’m going on vacation…
It’s my goal to take my kids to see all 50 states. This year we are going to be road tripping to 7 new ones: Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
I’m exhausted just typing that all out!
I enjoy my time more when I have less to schelp – so… I like to travel light because it’s easier.
We make sure to stay in places where we can do the laundry, and that makes it a lot easier to travel! Even though we are driving, I didn’t want to lug around a huge jug of detergent, (that can easily spill and make a mess!) so I bought these laundry sheets that help save space and the environment.
I also take my favorite wool dress from Wooland. It seems crazy to wear wool in the summer but this dress is made from merino wool which is moisture wicking and works with your body to heat and cool it. I love how it keeps me warm when it’s cool and cool when it’s warm! Amazing! The nice thing about it is that the fabric is durable and it doesn’t need to be washed a ton so I can wear it for a few days without needing to wash it!
Bottles and tubes take up tons of space in luggage so I save space (and the environment) by using shampoo (like this one) and conditioner (like this one) bars, dry toothpaste and solid moisturizer from Bites and solid sunscreen Al off these things not only save space, but if you’re flying you don’t have to pull them out for TSA or worry about the size.
People are always asking me about packing cubes.
The truth is – sometimes I love mine and sometimes I find them a hassle.
If you are going to use packing cubes, I found the Acteon brand works best for me. What I like about these is that they have two sides, one for clean supplies and one for when things get dirty so you can keep things separate. They are also compression cubes so they take up less space. You do need to be careful not to overpack them though because they can rip.
What are your favorite things to take on vacation? Let me know in the comments!
